Each player is dealt two face down cards and there are five open cards which are shared between the players on the table, these cards can be used by any player.

The showdown

Active players show their hands clockwise, starting with the player who was last to bet or raise in the last betting round. If everyone is active in the last betting round, the first active player to the left of the dealer is the first to show their cards.

Each player offers their best possible five-card poker hand out of the seven available cards. It can be any combination: two cards from his deck plus three from the stack, one card from his deck plus four from the stack…

Texas Holdem Variations

The game of Texas Hold’em described above is officially played in public casinos. When played at home, the same procedure can be used, but in some informal games, card burning is omitted and the five community cards are dealt face down on the table from the start. The result is similar to formal play, but there is an increased risk that a player could, by accident or cheating, learn to identify some of the cards on the table before they are officially exposed.
